Vintro Clothing is a proudly South African, sustainable second-hand clothing company owned by Cassandra Botha. It was started in 2012 as an alternative to mass produced fashion. In 2014 Cassandra wrote her thesis on the concept of upcycling vintage and retro clothing. She received her B-Tech Degree in Fashion Design, Cum Laude at the Tshwane University of Technology. She started off selling her goods at markets, where she learnt a lot about the industry. Vintro Clothing is now a physical store located in Pretoria East as well as an online store.
Upcycling is the activity of renewing or redesigning a garment in order to give it a second life.
We Upcycle by altering, adjusting, and even redesigning or decorating a garment! We do this using retro buttons, trimmings, or even take garments apart to create a new one!
Our aim as an Upcycling business is to offer an ethical clothing product. We aim to use Upcycling in order to slow down fast fashion and reduce material waste by preventing the 'stagnant' cycle of second hand clothing.
